  • Start your career in Housing Property Maintenance with a team that will support your development every step of the way

We are looking for an Apprentice Work Planner to join our Planning team within Platform Property Care, based in Solihull and Birmingham.

Are you organised, curious, and ready to begin a rewarding career in administration?

Do you want to earn a recognised qualification while working for one of the Midlands' leading social housing providers?

Join Platform Housing Group as an Apprentice Work Planner and take the first step toward a successful, long‑term career.

Platform Housing Group is one of the largest social housing associations in the Midlands, providing over 50,000 homes to more than 120,000 customers. We are committed to delivering excellent services and investing in our people, places, and communities.

    What you'll be doing

As an Apprentice Work Planner, you'll play a key role in supporting our Property Care Planning team and learn how a fast‑paced scheduling environment operates. You'll help ensure our customers receive a smooth and efficient service while gaining hands‑on experience in coordinating our multi‑skilled trades workforce across the Midlands.

    Day‑to‑day, you will:

    • Assist with allocating work to our field‑based trades teams for both planned and reactive property maintenance

    • Help monitor and update job progress to keep our customers informed

    • Work closely with operatives, planners, and customer service teams to keep jobs running smoothly

    • Support with handling incoming queries and adapting plans when priorities change

    • Contribute to maintaining accurate records and systems to ensure work is delivered efficiently

You'll build strong communication and organisational skills, learn how to manage competing priorities in a busy environment, and gain confidence working with both customers and colleagues. You'll also have the support of a mentor throughout your apprenticeship to help guide your development.

No previous experience is needed — just enthusiasm, a customer‑focused mindset, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic team.

    Your training

You will study the Business Administration Apprenticeship standard at Level 3 by attending Halesowen College or similar provider one day a week while gaining hands-on experience for the rest of the week.

Once you successfully complete your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for permanent roles within Platform Housing Group. We have a strong track record of offering long-term opportunities to our apprentices.

    What we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

    • GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths

    • Good organisation and ICT skills

    • Clear written and verbal communication abilities

    • A positive attitude and strong desire to grow your skills

    • The ability to work well within a team

    • The motivation to work independently, including from home

    • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn

You must also live near to or in Solihull and Birmingham, as you will regularly attend our Solihull office based at Birmingham Business Park.

    Working arrangements

    • Home‑based with regular travel to Birmingham Business Park and occasional travel to Worcester, and other office locations as required.

    • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

    • Free on‑site parking available

    • Earn while you learn

    • Health and Dental Plan

    • NUS Apprentice Card (discounts and perks)

    • Fully supported training and development

    • Access to opportunities across the wider organisation

    • Involvement in networking groups, events, and community projects
