    An exciting opportunity has arisen; we are recruiting a People Services Manager on a fixed term basis for 12 months to fill a critical role in our busy team.

    The post holder will provide a full generalist HR service to wider business. You will engage, support and collaborate with members of the HR team, and boarder People Services team, on agreed projects, assist with developing policies and contributing to the HR strategy. On occasion you may be asked to deputise for our Chief People Officer.

    Key Responsibilities

    • You will motivate and manage a people  team of 3 to ensure a quality Service is delivered to support the business objectives building high-trust and impactful relationships with employees and all-levels of management, and organisational leadership.

    • You will work closely with Line Managers across PDS supporting them with strategic HR expertise in areas such as, engagement, retention, performance and employee relations.

    • Maintaining a broad knowledge of strategic HR best practice to ensure the business can benefit from new market trends and developments within the HR profession.

    • Collaborate with our L&D Manager and Recruitment Manager to support the delivery of our wider People Strategy.

    • Carry out research into best practice for HR and develop HR policy and procedures, ensuring employment law compliance, consistency in application and practice across the organisation.

    • Role model for PDS values and behaviours, be a champion for DE&I and well-being activities and act as an ambassador for the People function.

    • You will be central to the evolution of our performance management process, talent, and succession planning.

    • Alongside supporting the evolution of our benefits strategy which attracts, motivates and retains employees, you will be the point of contact for any escalated ER cases (although these are very minimal within our organisation).

    • You will employ a range of OD tools, methods and approaches to deliver change across the organisation.

    • And, perhaps most importantly, directly support our Chief People Officer in leading and championing our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.

    What you need to succeed in the role

    • CIPD accredited(Member or above);

    • Experience of complex HR project management;

    • Experience of implementing successful and complex Change Management and Consultation Processes;

    • In-depth knowledge of employment legislation alongside a demonstrable commitment to CPD;

    •  A strong understanding and experience of using HR software to support HR service delivery;

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

    • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to effectively prioritise within a busy portfolio to meet tight deadlines;

    • Ability to lead, motivate and engage others;

    • Able to analyse and interpret information to form sound judgements;

    • Ability to develop practical and innovative solutions to problem solving;

    • Strong interpersonal skills;

    • Experience of developing HR policies and procedures;

    • Flexible with a “can do” attitude and “hands on approach”;

    • Highly organised with the ability to deliver across both strategic and operational elements of this role;

    • Strong attention to detail.

    This is a remote role with occasional travel required to attend meetings. 

    All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
