Join Guide Dogs as our Operational Security Manager – Protecting the Technology That Powers Life-Changing Work
At Guide Dogs, we help people with sight loss live the life they choose, and behind this mission is a robust, secure technology infrastructure that keeps our organisation safe. We're looking for an exceptional Operational Security Manager (OSM) to lead the charge in safeguarding our digital landscape and ensuring our services continue to support thousands of lives every day.
This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of our security operations function. From threat intelligence and vulnerability management to real-time monitoring, penetration testing and incident response.
You'll build and manage a centre of excellence for security operations, overseeing both in-house capabilities and third-party partners, including our 24/7 outsourced Security Operations Centre (SOC). You'll work closely with technology teams across the organisation to embed security into the fabric of everything we do, from the earliest stages of technical planning to live service management.
As the primary lead for cyber incident response, you'll plan, run, and continuously improve our response capabilities. You'll monitor emerging threats and vulnerabilities, drive timely remediation efforts, and provide early warning systems that keep Guide Dogs ahead of the curve.
Your expertise will shape the design and delivery of technical solutions, working in close collaboration with our Head of Information & Cyber Security and Change teams. You'll be responsible for maintaining and improving our security software and hardware, developing playbooks and procedural documentation, managing technical risk, and translating complex data into meaningful insights to guide strategic decision-making.
This role also offers the opportunity to directly manage and mentor Security Engineers, helping to shape a strong, capable team that supports both the day-to-day and long-term security goals of Guide Dogs.
If you’re passionate about operational security, thrive in a mission-driven environment, and want your work to make a tangible difference in people’s lives — we want to hear from you.
This 12-month fixed-term role is 35 hours per week worked Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. This is predominantly a home-based role with the occasional requirement to attend Guide Dogs offices.
No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.
