Job Description

As a Junior Security Apprentice, you’ll support the monitoring of security tools, respond to alerts, and assist with investigating potential incidents. You’ll build a strong understanding of how cyber security works in practice, developing skills across security operations, engineering and compliance.
Working closely with the Network and Security Engineer, Technology Operations teams and compliance colleagues, you’ll play a key part in helping to maintain a strong security posture across the business.

Please note this is a full-time, two year temporary contract which is based in Cornwall. In line with our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations (minimum of two days per week) and remotely within the UK.
You’ll help us by
Utilising security tools and dashboards to identify and monitor vulnerabilities.
Taking action to resolve issues identified through vulnerability scans, penetration tests and alerts.
Staying up to date with the latest cyber security threat landscape.
Supporting the scheduling and application of security patches to our IT infrastructure and software solutions.
Monitoring, responding to, and escalating security incidents and service requests where needed.
Conducting and reporting on periodic access reviews.
Maintaining and improving IT documentation, processes, internal procedures and playbooks.
Maintaining information security and data protection standards in line with all relevant legislation, regulation and company policies.
The skills you’ll be sharing with the team
GCSE English & Maths 4-9/ A*-C or equivalent.
An A-Level in ICT or an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT/Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject/BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits).
Problem solving and multitasking skills.
Good general knowledge of IT.
A constant learner, familiar with current technology.
Able to remain calm when dealing with pressure.
The ability to work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, communicating by phone, e-mail and face-to-face in a professional manner.
Basic understanding of cyber security principals.
Basic understanding of networking technologies.
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Motivated, driven and proactive.
Team worker.
The Apprenticeship:
As one of our Apprentices, you will be on a 2-year fixed term contract starting in September 2026. Your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
With support from your line manager and the Training & Early Career Advisor, you will be working towards a Level 4 Cyber Security standard.
We are looking at recruiting on potential and your enthusiasm to succeed. Because of this, we will be running an Assessment Day to find out more about your skills for this role. The Assessment Day for this role is taking place on: Wednesday 22nd July.
