About Us
At Fire Fighters Charity, we are here for the UK's fire services community, providing lifelong support that helps people live healthier and happier lives. From physical rehabilitation and psychological wellbeing to practical support and community connection, we stand alongside serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel, and their families when they need us most.
Every donation, every lottery player and every supporter helps us continue this vital work. As demand for our services grows, so does the importance of building strong, lasting relationships with those who choose to support us.
We're looking for an experienced and inspiring Head of Individual Giving & Supporter Care to lead a highly motivated team, drive sustainable income growth and ensure our supporters receive an exceptional experience at every stage of their journey with us.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop one of the Charity's most important income streams, with responsibility for generating over £4 million annually through individual giving activities, including regular giving, lottery, supporter acquisition, retention and stewardship.
Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, you will provide strategic leadership for our Individual Giving and Supporter Care function, leading a team of colleagues to deliver ambitious fundraising objectives while maintaining a supporter-first approach.
You'll develop and implement strategies that grow our supporter base, increase donor lifetime value and reduce attrition. Using audience insight, market trends and performance data, you'll identify opportunities to innovate, test new approaches and continuously improve our fundraising programmes.
Working collaboratively across the organisation, you'll oversee the planning and delivery of integrated campaigns across digital and traditional channels, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and achieve their objectives. You'll also lead relationships with external agencies and suppliers, maximising return on investment and ensuring value for money.
Alongside fundraising growth, you'll champion excellence in supporter care, developing and embedding a best-in-class supporter experience that builds loyalty, strengthens relationships and reflects our values.
This role leads the Individual Giving and Supporter Care function, driving sustainable income growth through effective donor acquisition, retention and stewardship strategies while ensuring an outstanding supporter experience. You'll oversee multi-channel fundraising campaigns, manage significant budgets and compliance requirements, use data and insight to inform decision-making, and lead a high-performing team to deliver ambitious fundraising objectives and long-term supporter engagement.
This role is subject to a disclosure and barring check.
About You
You’ll be an experienced fundraising professional with a strong track record of leading successful Individual Giving programmes and delivering sustainable income growth. Combining strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, you'll be confident developing fundraising plans, managing significant budgets and using data and insight to drive acquisition, retention and supporter loyalty.
You'll bring experience of supporter care, relationship fundraising and direct marketing across a range of channels, with a strong understanding of donor stewardship and supporter engagement. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you'll be able to manage multiple priorities, build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners, and deliver results through collaboration and influence.
We're looking for someone with excellent leadership and people management skills, who can motivate and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You'll be confident interpreting complex data, making evidence-based decisions and using Salesforce or similar CRM systems to maximise fundraising performance.
A qualification in Fundraising, Direct Marketing or Marketing would be welcomed, alongside an up-to-date understanding of data protection, privacy legislation and fundraising best practice.
Most importantly, you'll be passionate about delivering exceptional supporter experiences and motivated by the opportunity to help us be there for the fire services community when they need us most.
