As a leading national charity, we deliver over 90 services across England and campaign for systemic change. We are now seeking a visionary Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Team and help shape the future of mental health support in the UK.
About the Role
As CFO, you will lead the strategic and operational direction of our financial functions, ensuring robust stewardship, insightful analysis, and long-term sustainability. You will:
Lead financial control, planning, reporting, and operations across Rethink and our sister charity, Mental Health UK.
Provide strategic insight and scenario modelling to support executive decision-making.
Champion ethical, inclusive, and transparent financial practices.
Collaborate across the Executive Team to shape organisational strategy, culture, and delivery.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with:
Substantial senior finance leadership experience, ideally in a values-led or charitable organisation.
A strong grasp of charity finance, SORP, and regulatory compliance.
A track record of building high-performing teams and embedding financial literacy across diverse functions.
A passion for social impact, equity, and inclusive leadership.
Key dates
Closing date: 5pm, 4 August 2025.
Interviews will be held in two stages: the first stage with our Executive Team and second stage with the Chief Executive and representatives from our Board of Trustees.
Interviews will take place weeks commencing 1 and 8 September 2025.
Candidates may be asked to complete psychometric assessments as part of the recruitment process.
