Operations Manager

Employer: Birthrights  

Location: Home-based UK resident. Able to travel 4 — 6 times a year for team meetings and events in London or other national cities as required by the role, reasonable travel expenses will be covered.

Working hours: 21—30 hours per week based on a 37.5 hour working week. Core working hours are 10am — 3pm and you will need to overlap with the whole team at least one day per week.  

Salary: £40,000 FTE per annum pro rata — £22,400 actual for 3 days per week / £32,000 actual for 4 days a week

  • We are looking for an Operations Manager to:

    • Lead the day-to-day operations that keep Birthrights running smoothly

    • Oversee HR policies, processes and staff support, ensuring they reflect our values

    • Manage governance processes and support the Board and committees

    • Strengthen financial oversight, working with accountants and preparing information for annual reporting

    • Develop and manage relationships with IT and digital providers

    • Help shape organisational systems, planning cycles and ways of working rooted in anti-oppressive practice

    As our Operations Manager, you will play a key role in building the strong foundations that enable Birthrights to deliver impactful work across the UK. Working closely with the CEO and wider team, you will oversee core organisational functions, from HR and governance to finance processes and digital systems, ensuring our internal structures support our mission to transform maternity care through a human rights lens.

    We are looking for someone with experience managing organisational operations in a charity or values-led organisation. You will be highly organised, proactive and collaborative, with strong project management and problem-solving skills. A commitment to racial justice, equity and anti-oppressive practice is essential.
