Training & Community Development Co-ordinator

Location: Remote/Hybrid (with some in-person work required across the UK)

Temporary: Fixed-term until March 2027 (with potential for extension)

Working hours: 3–4 days per week. We operate a flexible working policy around core hours of 10am - 3pm

Salary: £32,960 FTE (pro rata)

    This is a hugely exciting role that will play a key part in strengthening andexpanding Birthrights’ training and community development work.

    As our Training & Community Development Co-ordinator, you will:

    ·        Support and co-deliver our human rights in maternity care trainingprogramme

    ·        Ensure training sessions run smoothly, both online and in person

    ·        Work closely with our Training Manager, Legal Lead and Associate Trainers

    ·        Build strong, trust-based relationships with community organisations

    ·        Centre co-production and lived experience in training design and development

    This role sits within a wider project exploring how communities understand,interact with and advocate for their rights in maternity care — and how we candesign more relevant, impactful and community-rooted training.

    You will collaborate closely with our Campaigns & Policy team to ensureorganisations and communities we work with are connected into broadermovement-building and systems change work.

    Key responsibilities

    1.        Training Coordination, Preparation and Delivery

    ·        Schedule and prepare online and in-person training sessions

    ·        Liaise with organisers, trainers and partners to confirm logistics and requirements

    ·        Set up Zoom links and create QR codes for attendance tracking and feedback

    ·        Prepare and adapt training materials using templates and case studies

    ·        Maintain accurate records in internal spreadsheets and CRM systems

    ·        Co-facilitate or lead training sessions for Civil society organisations, healthcare professionals and community members

    Communication Management and Team Support

    ·        Monitor the shared training inbox and respond or allocate queries

    ·        Provide administrative support to the Training Team

    ·        Attend weekly training team meetings

    ·        Check in with trainers before and after sessions

    ·        Offer light-touch debriefs where requested

    ·        Flag safeguarding or feedback concerns appropriately

    Community Engagement & Relationship Building

    ·        Build strong, trust-based relationships with grassroots and community organisations

    ·        Act as a key point of contact for ongoing communication and support

    ·        Centre co-creation throughout the training design process

    ·        Involve communities in feedback loops and content review

    ·        Work with the Advice Team, Legal Lead and Communications team to develop toolkits, visual aids and digital and printed resources

    ·         

    ·        Gather and analyse feedback to identify gaps in rights knowledge, barriers to advocacy and emerging themes and priorities.

    ·        Ensure learning is recorded accurately and shared with the wider team.

    Network and Legacy Development

    (Under guidance of line manager)

    ·        Work with communities and the Advice & Information

    ·        Team to develop tools that support communities to understand and claim their rights

    ·        Assess learning from community work and collaborate with Campaigns and Advice teams to explore pathways for collective action

    ·        Explore how training can continue to be delivered and adapted in communities beyond the lifetime of the project

    Person specification

    Essential

    ·        Experience developing and delivering training

    ·        Confident facilitation skills, able to hold inclusive, trauma-informed spaces

    ·        Experience working with communities to co-create

    ·        Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with sensitivity and empathy

    ·        Knowledge of human rights law and healthcare law, particularly relating to pregnancy and childbirth

    ·        Experience coordinating events, meetings or training programmes

    ·        Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

    ·        Confident using digital tools (Zoom, Microsoft Office, databases, shared inboxes)

    ·        A self-starter, able to work independently in a remote team

    ·        A collaborative team player

    ·        Commitment to Birthrights’ values, inclusion and anti-oppressive practice

    ·        Willingness to flex between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery

    ·        Desirable

    ·        Knowledge of maternity care and/or current rights issues in pregnancy and birth

    ·        Understanding of inequalities and systemic barriers within maternity care

    ·        Understanding of anti-Black racism and oppression, and commitment to challenging injustice

    ·        Lived experience, community-based work or self-directed learning related to these issues
