    Renaissance are looking for a Senior Statistician or Psychometrician to join our Research and Statistics team and help shape the next generation of educational assessments used by learners around the world.

    This is a highly influential role within our organisation. You’ll contribute to the strategic direction of our assessment portfolio, support the development of innovative new assessments and data services, and help ensure our products remain robust, fair, and fit for purpose. Your work will underpin our reputation as a leader in educational measurement and research.

    Senior Statistician responsibilities include:

    As a Senior Statistician, you’ll apply a range of statistical methods across both internal and client-facing projects, helping teams and partners make informed decisions evidenced by high quality data.

    Your work will include:

    • Conducting statistical analyses of research and assessment data, from foundational techniques through to more advanced methods

      • Contributing to analysis and reporting services for clients such as Multi Academy Trusts, international school groups, and Ministries of Education worldwide

      • Supporting internal educational research using large-scale assessment datasets

    • Providing expert input into assessment design, related content, and associated reporting and analytics, both internally and externally

    • Advising on the design and delivery of trials and standardisation studies for existing and new assessment products

    • Contributing to project design and proposals, including statistical approaches, timelines, and cost estimates

    • Ensuring robust statistical quality assurance, with procedures that are proportionate, transparent, and fit for purpose

    • Maintaining clear documentation of analyses, methodologies, and technical specifications across the Renaissance Global assessment portfolio

    • Sharing knowledge and expertise, including:

      • Presenting analyses to internal and external audiences when required

      • Providing statistical guidance or training to colleagues

      • Supporting the ongoing development of the statistics team

    Exploring unsupervised/supervised machine learning for using in assessment and education contexts

    Experience we’d love to see includes:

    • A strong grounding in applied statistical methods

    • Experience working with Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT)

    • Confidence in using analytical software such as SPSS, R and Winsteps welcomed

    • Experience with multivariate analysis

    • At least 5 years years of practical, applied experience in a relevant role

    • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines independently

    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to:

      • Explain statistical concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences

      • Respond confidently to questions from external users by phone or email

      • Present findings clearly to a variety of audiences

    We are looking at a salary range from £50,000-60,000 dependent on experience, plus lots of amazing benefits.
