Senior Engagement Officer (South East)
Employer: Transport For All
Location: Remote within the South East of England (covering the Transport for the South East area), with occasional travel (this can be via public transport)
Temporary: Initial one-year fixed term contract.
Working hours: 28 hours per week (0.8 of full time). We are open to other arrangements and job-shares.
Salary: £26,346.60 for 28 hours per week (£32,933.25 full time equivalent)

About the Role
Transport for All’s members are at the heart of our work. Members include disabled people and our allies who are passionate about accessibility in public transport and spaces.
This role sits within the Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns team and focuses on supporting disabled people across the South East to influence change in transport accessibility. A core part of the role is bringing people together, building relationships, and supporting campaigns that reflect the priorities and experiences of disabled people in the region.
You will work across the Transport for the South East area to build and strengthen local networks, support grassroots campaigning, and ensure that disabled people’s experiences inform both regional and national influencing work.
You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, particularly the Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns team and the Insight and Advice team, to ensure that local insight is reflected in our wider work.

Key responsibilities
Planning and development (10% of time)
· Plan and coordinate activity across the South East, taking into account organisational priorities, capacity and funding requirements
· Support the development and delivery of Transport for All’s membership offer, including community building and local campaign support
· Maintain accurate records, including use of the CRM system
· Work closely with the team and relevant consultants to monitor progress against objectives and funding requirements, and contribute to reporting
Community building and engagement (40% of time)
· Build and maintain relationships with members, campaigners, disabled people’s organisations, and local groups across the South East
· Organise and deliver accessible meetings and events, both online and in person, to bring disabled people together to share experiences and take action
· Support the growth of a diverse and representative membership in the region
· Identify and support members to take part in paid opportunities through the training, research and consultancy team
· Contribute to member communications, including newsletters, website content and social media
Campaigning and influencing (40% of time)
· Maintain a strong and up-to-date understanding of the transport policy landscape across the South East
· Act as a key link between members, the Insight and Advice team, and the Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns team, ensuring lived experience directly informs influencing activity
· Work with colleagues to build and maintain relationships with regional decision-makers, including local authorities, transport operators and sub-national transport bodies
· Lead and support the development and delivery of regional campaigns, working with members to shape priorities, define goals and drive change
· Coordinate and contribute to responses to consultations, including gathering and synthesising member input and supporting individual responses
· Represent Transport for All, alongside members where appropriate, in meetings with decision-makers and stakeholders
· Support the amplification of campaigns through local media and communications channels
· Contribute proactively to national campaign planning by bringing in regional insight, trends and opportunities for influence
Insight (10% of time)
· Promote the Transport for All advice-line within the region
· Share updates on regional transport issues and trends with the Insight and Advice team to support casework and advice
General (at all times)
· Undertake any other tasks, duties or projects in line with the role
· Undertake occasional evening and weekend work as required, and arrange time off in lieu
· Work within the Social Model of Disability
· Work in adherence to Transport for All’s values and staff policies
· Maintain confidentiality
· Attend staff meetings as needed
Skills
Essential
· Lived experience of disability. This is a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
· Understanding of transport accessibility barriers for disabled people
· Lives in, and has knowledge of, the South East of England, including relevant political and/or transport structures
· Experience of campaigning, activism, or community organising, with examples of contributing to or achieving change
· Experience building relationships and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
· Experience of organising accessible meetings or events
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills
· Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a remote team
· Commitment to the Social Model of Disability and disability justice
Desirable
· Experience contributing to consultation responses
· Experience working with local or regional decision-makers
· Knowledge of transport systems and governance in the South East
