    We are seeking a diligent and empathetic Safeguarding Compliance Officer to join our Faculty team. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students, managing safeguarding records and files, and serving as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns. You will work closely with the Assistant Vice Principal Safeguarding (DSL) to promote student welfare, maintain compliance with statutory requirements, and foster a safe and

    supportive learning environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Administration

    ● Manage the transfer of incoming safeguarding files when students join MVA, in line with statutory requirements, ensuring they are accurately recorded and stored; following up with individual schools, when required.

    ● Manage the transfer of outgoing safeguarding files when students leave MVA, in line with statutory requirements, following up with individual schools when required.

    ● Manage the Safeguarding inbox by actively monitoring it throughout the school day and responding as appropriate

    ● Manage concerns made via the Student Worry Button

    ● Update CPOMS in line with MVA processes and protocols, in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring clear records of information gathered, next steps and decisions made.

    ● Support with the administration of CPOMS and provide CPOMS data and trends analysis to the Safeguarding Team; Heads of Year and Senior Leadership Team, as required.

    ● Attend weekly Safeguarding Meetings with the Safeguarding Team in respect of individual students and wider safeguarding matters.

    ● Respond to requests for support and information from parents/carers and professionals.

    ● Liaise with external agencies, such as Children’s Services, Police and Health, when necessary.

    ● Communicate to students, staff members, parents/carers and other agencies decisions made and next steps in a clear, accessible and helpful manner, when required

    ● Provide administrative support for safeguarding training and other wider school initiatives and events.

    ● Provide administrative support to ensure all safeguarding-related documents for internal and external use are kept up to date and follow MVA branding guidelines

    Professional development

    ● Take opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school

    ● Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures

    ● Undergo safeguarding training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection and safeguarding, including legislation, statutory and inspection guidance.

    ● Support new staff, when required, in their use of CPOMS ensuring they can log in successfully, navigate the system confidently and record concerns and communications effectively.

    ● Support the administration, including the PEP, for Designated Looked After Children; including assisting with producing reports for the GEAB at least once a year;

    ● Support the Safeguarding Team to develop MVA’s safeguarding policy (and related policies) in line with national recommendations and advice.

    ● Ensure that clear and consistent messages regarding MVA safeguarding policies and practices are given to students, parents/carers and external organisations.

    ● Build and refresh knowledge of the school’s MIS and other relevant systems

    ● To be a flexible member of the Safeguarding Team and assist the Operations Teams on occasions, covering colleagues’ duties as required.

    Other areas of responsibility

    Safeguarding

    ● Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies

    ● Be alert to when persistent absence becomes a safeguarding concern, and early help may be required

    ● Work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to promote the best interests of students, including sharing concerns where necessary

    ● Promote the safeguarding of all students in the school

    Person Specification

    Essential

    ● GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade C in English and maths.

    ● Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in safeguarding.

    ● Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting.

    ● Experience identifying interventions to support pupils and raise attendance.

    ● Experience working directly with pupils and parents.

    ● Experience working collaboratively with colleagues.

    ● Experience analysing data, producing reports, and identifying key insights.

    ● Effective written and verbal communication skills with good listening ability.

    ● Knowledge of the potential barriers to high attendance that pupils may face.

    ● Ability to use Management Information Systems (MIS) and conduct analysis.

    ● Proficiency in Google Suite.

    ● Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

    ● Sound knowledge of relevant procedures and legislation, including the demonstrable ability to apply safeguarding and child protection practice.

    ● Ability to write reports and produce factual, statistical information.

    ● Experience working under pressure and responding flexibly to changing priorities.

    ● Willingness to provide the best possible opportunities for all pupils.

    ● Organised, proactive, self-motivated, and able to use initiative.

    ● Good time management skills.

    ● Commitment to upholding and promoting the ethos and values of the school and the MVA Ways of Being.

    ● Flexibility to work as part of, and contribute to, the Academy’s Safeguarding and Operations Team.

    ● Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

    ● Experience of working in a school environment, ideally online.
