Location: Remote working - with the possibility to attend a London event in 06.26.

Temporary: Fixed term contract: commencing c.1 April 2026 (depending on availability) for 3 months (possibility to extend)

Working hours: Freelance part time - up to 8 hours a month (or c.2 hrs/week)

Salary: £25 per hour

    The Cowrie Scholarship Foundation is a UK charity creating new futures for over 100 talented, disadvantaged, Black British students through university education.

    ‍ ‍

    We are empowering 100+ disadvantaged talented Black British students over the next decade by funding their fees and living expenses, in partnership with UK universities, donors and businesses, supported by mentors.

    ‍ ‍

    This role is to support the communications of the charity; specifically (but not exclusively) on LinkedIn and Instagram.

    Key Responsibilities

    ‍ ‍

    We are looking for a creative individual, confident in social media content, channels, and community engagement. In this freelance role, you will:             Create content for The Cowrie Scholarship Foundation that aligns with the charity’s mission and goals, and share across Instagram, LinkedIn, and for newsletters.

    ‍ ‍

    Engage in social listening and audience research to gather information about potential donors and scholars.

    ‍ ‍

    Collaborate with the Communications team to plan, create and publish content, maintaining a consistent posting schedule

    ‍ ‍

    Adhere to the charity’s brand guidelines and tone of voice

    ‍ ‍

    Ideally, attend events across the UK, using photography and videography

    ‍ ‍

    (where appropriate) to capture and share stories to encourage fundraising

    ‍ ‍

    Assist in creating and sending MailChimp and LinkedIn newsletters Undertake analytic research to identify best practice, opportunities and potential new audience development on social media.

    Who we're looking for

    ‍ ‍

    We’re looking for a passionate marketing and communications practitioner, with great digital and social media skill. You will:

    ‍ ‍

    Be a creative thinker with the ability to bring stories to life

    ‍ ‍

    Be confident using Canva to create content

    ‍ ‍

    Have experience working in the charity sector or community-focused organisations

    ‍ ‍

    Be passionate about engaging with diverse communities

    ‍ ‍

    Have a good eye for visual branding and ideally experience of photography or videography

    ‍ ‍

    Knowledge of accessible content design (alt text, captions, inclusive language).

    ‍ ‍
