About Us
The Sunrise Project is a global network of independent organizations united by a common mission: to drive interventions to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. We developed a unique model of changemaking where we identify key leverage points, design strategic interventions, and organise diverse networks to make them happen.
Sunrise International is a proud member of The Sunrise Project network. We adapt our role based on what is needed to have the greatest impact. We provide grants and build capacity where it’s needed, and sometimes we develop new brands or organisations and execute campaigns ourselves.
As a global network, we believe that a diversity of experiences and perspectives will help us build stronger strategies, teams, and movements. We are committed to building an inclusive and supportive workplace and encourage applications from people of diverse backgrounds, including First Nations people, people of colour, people living outside major cities, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and LGBTQIA+ people. About the Initiative
Solar is the world's fastest-growing energy source but speed alone won't deliver the global goal of tripling clean energy by 2030. A core gap is institutional. In countries where solar industry associations are strong, the sector draws more investment and builds at greater scale. Where those associations are weak or fragile, progress stalls.
The Executive Taskforce for Solar Industry Association Strengthening exists to help close that gap. It is a pool of senior solar industry leaders who can be deployed at short notice to provide hands-on, time-bound help to national and regional solar associations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The aim is associations that are more credible, influential, and financially self-sustaining - capable of attracting investment and accelerating solar deployment.
The Taskforce is composed of a global director, three regional leads and a roster of other on-demand executives to support the associations on specific areas (e.g business model development, strategic comms, professional development). Sunrise International hosts and runs the Taskforce in close collaboration with ClimateWorks Foundation and the Global Solar Council. After three years, the Taskforce's work and tools will be fully embedded in the Global Solar Council - so the capacity built outlasts the initiative itself.
About The Role
This is a new role to manage the Executive Taskforce and help set it up for success. You’ll be the ‘chief of staff’ who brings a strategic mindset, high level of organisation, and capacity to get things done to support the fast-moving executive team.
The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Taskforce, providing strategic program support to the Taskforce Director and regional leads. Working closely with ClimateWorks Foundation as a key implementation partner, the role will coordinate across a diverse set of stakeholders — Taskforce executives, national and regional solar associations, the Global Solar Council, civil society organizations, and financial institutions — to keep the Taskforce moving with pace and purpose.
This is a highly collaborative role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, adaptive environments, balances big-picture thinking with operational rigour, and is energised by working at the intersection of industry, policy, and renewable energy movement-building. You’re excited by the opportunity to be a driving force of a new, high-impact initiative and work with senior leaders in the solar industry. This role is remote with international travel expected at key moments during the year.
We support networks of organizations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organizations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and our partner organizations.
