About The Role
Would you like to use your experience of developing evidence-based policy to help us identify the policy action needed to affect change in dementia at national and local levels? Could you ensure the UK Brain Health Coalition is an authoritative and influential voice for policy and system change?
We are recruiting for a Policy and Brain Health Coalition Manager, this is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week on a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months. This is a home-based role, though you will be required to travel to attend brain health clinics, conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.
As Policy and Brain Health Coalition Manager you will play a key role in the Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major system and policy change across England, Northern Ireland and Wales at an exciting time in dementia policy. You will lead evidence-based, collaborative, engaging and innovative policy development, working with evidence, insight and lived experience to build strong cases for change and influence national and local policy and practice.
A significant priority for you will be leading Alzheimer’s Society’s engagement with, and support for, the UK Brain Health Coalition. This includes facilitating the effective operation of the coalition, coordinating programmes of work and developing high-quality outputs and reports.
You will also be part of the policy leadership team, providing expert policy advice to colleagues across the Society, including those at senior levels. Crucially, you will drive work around identifying the policy action needed to affect change in dementia at national and local levels and ensure the UK Brain Health Coalition is an authoritative and influential voice for policy and system change.
Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS Teams on Wednesday 21st October.
About you
Joining us you’ll have significant experience of developing evidence-based policy in a health and care context, with an ability to translate complex clinical, research or policy information into persuasive policy writing. You’ll also possess an in-depth understanding of the health and care policy environment, including NHS, health systems and clinical pathways.
To be successful in this role you’ll need to have experience of providing leadership through building relationships, managing and developing others. You’ll be collaborative, curious and with an appetite for challenging the status quo. You’ll have good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to nurture significant relationships with senior stakeholders and build consensus across different perspectives to deliver results.
Crucially, you’ll be able to gather evidence, insight and data to underpin policy development, and you’ll be able to use your experience of engaging with patients, service-users and/or those living with long-term health conditions to maximise the impact of your work.
What you’ll focus on:
Developing high-quality policy products to establish Alzheimer’s Society as a bold, brave system leader and create, assess and prioritise policy positions using innovation, collaboration, evidence and engagement.
Line managing and develop a high performing Policy Officer, in line with our culture, values and expectations.
Planning, budgeting, reporting, evaluating impact and managing risk across all aspects of our policy work.
Building impactful, sustainable relationships with senior external stakeholders such as partners in NHS systems, Government, think tanks and other charities, to further our strategic objectives.
Ensuring the experience and insight of people affected by dementia informs all aspects of our policy work to a sector-leading standard.
Leading Alzheimer’s Society’s engagement with, and support for, the UK Brain Health Coalition, to ensure the coalition is an authoritative and influential voice for policy and system change.
Working with coalition members, partners and other dementia charities to identify priorities, facilitate consensus and support delivery of agreed objectives.
