We also ask that team members, wherever possible, are available to support three key youth events each year, including overnight stays.
Temporary: 12-month initial contract (with the intention to become permanent as funding allows)
Working hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Team members attending the London office 2+ days per week are entitled to an additional £2,000 office allowance.Travel: Some travel to schools across England is required. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to help empower young people aged 8–16 to take action, build confidence and develop new skills through our youth-led programmes in schools.
The Programmes and Projects Executive will play a key role in supporting our community of primary and secondary schools throughout the school year. You will help design and deliver Bite Back in Schools, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for young people, teachers and schools — and making sure the programme achieves meaningful impact.
Alongside day-to-day delivery, you will contribute to cross-organisational projects, including an exciting collaboration with school food charity partners and wider organisational initiatives.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, is proactive and adaptable, and is ready to learn and grow at a leading youth-led health charity. You will be motivated by helping young people turn their ideas into action and seeing the difference that makes in schools and beyond.
You will join a friendly and ambitious Programmes team, led by the Head of Programmes and including the Senior Programmes & Policy Manager (Scotland), Senior Campaigns and Relationships Manager, Programmes Manager (your line manager), and two other Programmes Executives. Together, the team supports schools and local authorities to deliver high-quality programmes and maximise impact — making canteens and high streets healthier, happier places.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Relationship Management
Provide ongoing support to primary and secondary schools throughout their time on the programme.
Act as a key point of contact for coordinators and lead teachers in primary schools.
Support monitoring and evaluation, including creating surveys, ensuring baseline and end-of-year completion, and analysing submitted data (with the Impact & Evaluation Manager).
Respond promptly to school queries and flag potential risks to the Programmes Manager.
Proactively seek feedback from teachers and young people.
Ensure each school has at least two one-to-one meetings with the team per academic year.
Build productive relationships with programme partners including Chefs in Schools and School Food Matters.
Community Management
Celebrate and share examples of best practice and impactful social action projects.
Deliver training sessions and webinars.
Support recruitment of future cohorts by promoting the programme, holding set-up calls, and guiding schools through the application and enrolment process.
Programme Delivery
Schedule and organise school visits, agreeing agendas in advance.
Deliver assemblies in primary and secondary schools.
Support pupils in developing their social action campaigns.
Coordinate assemblies between schools and Bite Back Ambassadors.
Support School Ambassadors with travel logistics across England and Scotland.
Ensure schools submit grant invoices on time, coordinating with the finance team.
Maintain and update programme management systems and data.
Provide end-to-end support for 10+ primary schools during the academic year.
Project Support
Support the Programmes Manager to deliver projects on time, within budget and scope.
Coordinate relationships within The School Food Project partnership.
Contribute to the national rollout of the primary programme, including developing age-appropriate resources.
Assist with organisation and delivery of Bite Back events.
Provide ad hoc support to evolving organisational priorities.

Experience using CRM systems.
Experience drafting digital content.
Understanding of youth social action programmes.
Interest in campaigning, social justice, food and child health.
Experience using design tools such as Canva.
ABOUT BITE BACK IN SCHOOLS
Over the past four years, Bite Back has delivered its youth-led social action programme to more than 200 schools.
Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 30,000 young people aged 11–15 to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food environments.
Following two successful primary pilots and new funding secured, we will soon recruit a cohort of primary schools in England joining from September 2026.
