The People Advisor plays a key role in attracting, recruiting, and retaining talented people while delivering an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. The role is responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment, coordinating onboarding, supporting employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and internal policies, and contributing to initiatives that promote an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.
Working collaboratively with managers across both business divisions, the postholder will provide professional advice and support to ensure people practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with organisational values.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
Oversee and support the full recruitment lifecycle from vacancy approval through to appointment
Produce engaging job advertisements and manage vacancies through recruitment platforms.
Screen applications, coordinate interviews and assessments, and support selection processes.
Prepare offer documentation and liaise with successful candidates through to their start date.
Monitor recruitment activity, analysing data and producing reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Employee Relations:
Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters.
Support disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability and flexible working processes.
Prepare documentation, correspondence and meeting packs for employee relations cases.
Attend meetings to provide HR support and ensure fair and consistent application of policies.
Escalate complex employee relations matters to the Head of People where appropriate
Compliance and People Administration:
Ensure all pre-employment compliance checks are completed, including Right to Work, DBS, reference and qualification checks where applicable.
Be the primary technical expert for the HR system, providing technical support, managing system configuration, coordinating upgrades and integrations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal system performance and data accuracy.
Maintain accurate employee records within the HR system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and organisational policies.
Produce contracts of employment, contractual changes and associated documentation.
Ensure mandatory training and compliance requirements are monitored and completed and that the SCR is updated in line with requirements.
