    Remote working 12 month Maternity Cover Opportunity. Immediate start. Full time 37 hours per week Monday - Friday.

    The Litigation Paralegal will Support the Senior Litigation Lawyer in the effective and efficient conduct of boat licensing enforcement litigation within the Trust Working collaboratively in a Legal team of 10 qualified lawyers, paralegals and one legal PA.

    Location & coverage

    The position will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces & monthly meetings at the London hub.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Supporting the legal team in the day-to-day conduct of the Trust’s boat licensing enforcement litigation matters.

    • Liaising with Courts regarding hearing dates, directions and issuing proceedings.

    • Gathering witness evidence from the Boat Licence Customer Support team.

    • Drafting claim forms and other court documents under the supervision of the Senior Litigation Paralegal and Senior Litigation Lawyer.

    • Compiling court bundles for issue at court and service on Defendants.

    • Record management and administration of case management software.

    Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

    • Experienced litigation paralegal.

    • Experience in producing claim forms and court bundles.

    • Knowledge of court system and litigation rules.

    • Excellent attention to detail and good drafting skills.

    • Have a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships both internally and externally.

    • Collaborative and able to think creatively when solving problems.

    • Excellent IT skills (e.g. case management software, Excel, Word, Land Registry portal).

    • Comply with Canal & River Trust Health & Safety policy and defined standards, report incidents, accidents and near misses.

    • To be aware of your own responsibilities regarding safeguarding and to support our commitment to providing safe environments and working practises that promote and protect the safety and welfare of children, young people and adults at risk at all times.
