Why Choose the Jisc Graduate scheme?
At Jisc, we’re proud to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where every voice is valued. Our September 2026 Graduate programme offers exciting opportunities to grow and thrive in the digital sector, with hands-on experience across various specialisms, three unique business placements, and rotations within your chosen track to explore different aspects of our organisation.
We live by our guiding principles and welcome applicants who share our values and are driven by our mission to improve lives through digital transformation.
Customer First: Take ownership, communicate effectively, and focus on quality solutions that deliver on our promises.
Never Stand Still: Look ahead, welcome new ideas, and drive continuous improvement.
Make an Impact: Be confident, stay curious, and deliver meaningful, sustainable value for our customers.
Always Inclusive: Collaborate openly, embrace diversity, and create space for every voice to be heard.
Your future team:
As an IT graduate in our GCTO team, you’ll rotate through three exciting areas starting with Infosec and Cloud Managed Services, followed by a final placement tailored to your interests. Each day is a chance to learn, contribute, and shape the future of digital services in education.
A Day in the life of IT Graduate:
In Infosec, you’ll dive into the world of security, managing security tickets, shadowing incident resolution, performing supplier checks, and supporting ISO 27001 activities. You’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our systems secure and our teams informed.
In your Cloud Managed Services rotation, you’ll help universities, colleges, learning providers and the wider public sector unlock the full potential of cloud technologies. You’ll assist in configuring and managing environments across Azure, AWS, and other platforms, while working closely with members to understand their needs and support solution design and deployment. Alongside architects and engineers, you’ll ensure every service is delivered securely and in line with cloud best practices.
Your final rotation is where you make it yours, whether you step into software development, explore innovation, tackle cyber security, or shape the future through data architecture. This is your chance to carve out your niche and make a lasting impact where it matters most.
This position requires the successful candidate to undergo enhanced background screening checks, which include but is not limited to, Basic / Enhanced UK criminal record check.
Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone with a passion for technology and innovation, ready to grow their skills in a collaborative environment. You’ll bring effective problem-solving abilities and a flexible, team-oriented mindset. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are important, as is a willingness to learn and contribute to shared goals.
We value self-starters who can plan and organise their work, and who are eager to understand and deliver excellent customer service. An interest in security and the ability to think analytically about risks and solutions will be beneficial, especially when communicating technical ideas to non-technical audiences. It would be a bonus if you have some familiarity with ISO 27001/ISO27001 or a desire to learn more about them.
