Location: This is a fully remote, work-from-home role, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK. Although fully remote, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, receiving regular mentoring, coaching and development opportunities throughout your apprenticeship journey.
Temporary: 2-year Fixed Term Contract
Working hours: Fulltime, 35 hours per week. Hours and days to be agreed with manager and may be subject to change to respond to business and customer needs. Time will also be allocated from the 35 hours for apprenticeship training and study in accordance with apprenticeship requirements.
Salary: National Apprenticeship Rates (based on age) £16,016.00 - £25,445.42 per annum

Level 3 Cyber Security Technician

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated apprentice to join our friendly IT team, where you’ll gain hands-on experience across cloud services, technical support, cyber security, digital infrastructure and IT operations.
This is a unique opportunity to join a structured development pathway, gaining hands-on experience across modern cloud technologies, cyber security and IT operations while progressing through nationally recognised apprenticeship standards.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of activities, from supporting users and maintaining systems to assisting with cyber security, compliance and technology improvement projects. You will help support the technology that enables Gateway Qualifications to deliver qualifications and services to learners, centres and stakeholders across the UK. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you’ll gain practical experience across cloud services, cyber security, infrastructure management and technical support, building the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in technology.
You will have the opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and cyber security tools from day one, gaining valuable experience within a cloud-first organisation.

Your Apprenticeship
You’ll initially join a 2-year Level 3 Cyber Security Technician Apprenticeship programme with Ginger Nut Training, designed to develop your technical knowledge, practical skills and experience in cyber security and IT infrastructure.
Throughout the programme, you’ll combine practical workplace experience with structured learning, dedicated study time and support from experienced IT professionals, developing the technical, professional and cyber security skills needed for a successful career in technology.
On successful completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, and subject to satisfactory performance, commitment and business requirements, there may be an opportunity to progress to a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship, further enhancing your expertise and career development within Gateway Qualifications.

What you’ll be doing
Supporting the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint devices and other cloud services.
Helping to protect the organisation through cyber security activities including security monitoring, vulnerability management, device security, identity management and compliance support.
Providing technical support to colleagues, assisting with hardware, software, user accounts and access requests.
Maintaining technical documentation, asset records and operational procedures to ensure services remain accurate and well governed.
Contributing to IT projects, technology improvements and innovation initiatives while developing your professional knowledge and skills.

A genuine interest in IT infrastructure, technology and cyber security, with a desire to build a long-term career in the sector.
A basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking and cyber security principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies and apply knowledge in a practical environment.
Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A proactive attitude, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and continuous improvement.

This is a remote role, so you’ll need a reliable internet connection and a suitable home-working environment; quiet, suitably furnished. Some roles may require occasional travel to our Colchester office.
We bring the whole staff team together for staff days during the year, 2 of which are in person, allowing us to focus on collaboration, connection and celebrating our culture. All staff are expected to attend these valuable team-building experiences which may include an overnight stay.
