A GCE Physics (New Specification) Examiner marks candidates' responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures. The experience of examining will offer an insight into the assessment process and can often consequently enhance the quality of your teaching Most subjects will be marked onscreen using ePEN, which can be done from home. A few subjects are still marked in the traditional method, using paper scripts sent through the post. A good level of subject knowledge at A Level is necessary to apply the mark scheme effectively. Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.
ResponsibilitiesTo mark accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained
To submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times
To ensure milestones for marking are adhered to
To ensure all administration is completed as specified
Experience/qualifications neededYou will have at least one academic year's worth of teaching experience:
a. within the last 8 years
b. at the required knowledge equivalent to A Level
c. since qualifying as a teacherYou will have a degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related subject
If your degree is in a different subject, you must have at least 3 years of experience teaching A Level Physics.You will be a qualified teacher
ORYou have at least one academic year's worth of teaching experience
You are a retired teacher with extensive experience and valuable expertise
You have a degree (or equivalent)
You are a qualified teacher
Experience desirableYou will have experience teaching/assessing practical work ( 9PH0_03)
Competencies requiredYou will have the ability to work well under pressure
You will have the ability to meet deadlines
You will have a high level of subject knowledge in order to apply the mark scheme
