THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)
Policing is operating in a time of global change and uncertainty, the public and our staff need a service which is responsive, able to tackle future challenges and embrace opportunity.
The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) brings UK police leaders together to set direction in policing and drive progress for the public.
We achieve this through:
Coordination – by joining up the operational response to critical national policing issues to deliver policing today and shape the future.
Collaboration – by working in partnership as part of the whole policing system and beyond to improve public safety.
Communication – by sharing the collective expertise, views and action of UK police chiefs.
NPCC DDaT COORDINATION COMMITTEE
The policing model as we know it was built at a time when the technology available to criminals and us as a service was far simpler. Today, virtually every crime has a digital element, often involving advanced criminal tactics and vast amounts of complex data.
This presents policing with a serious challenge, and we recognise that we need to modernise with pace and ambition. DDaTCC is in place to ensure the best use of innovative technology and data, in ways that will maximise public safety, improve our service and ensure value for money, working closely alongside the NPCC Science and Innovation Coordination Committee (SICC).
Led by Chief Constable Rob Carden, DDaTCC includes members from all areas of policing and our main partners, driving delivery of the National Police Digital Strategy 2025-2030.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful DDaTCC Committee Coordinator to progress the objectives of DDaTCC in 2026/27. The role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running and direction of travel of the Committee as it works to transform how policing uses technology and data both nationally and with local forces, implementing the National Police Digital Strategy which is aligned to the broader National Police Reform programme.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:
Strong working knowledge of the digital, data and technology environment across policing and and how technology directly enables and benefits policing aspirations, with good understanding of organisational technology components and challenges.
Detailed experience and knowledge of implementing business change at a strategic level.
Knowledge of national issues across a broad range of subject matters to enable them to support the development and implementation of the committee involving stakeholders from across the Police Service and other relevant organisations.
Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to intervene tactfully yet decisively when required.
Ability to communicate with and manage senior and executive level stakeholders, and create effective networks both within the organisation and externally.
Extensive, demonstrable experience of strategy, planning, and performance delivery within a large organisation and in a complex environment. Demonstrate the ability to analyse and update reports on progress against delivery.
