Job Description
As Digital Content Editor - Prints, you will lead on the creation of powerful, inclusive content that highlights the richness and diversity of prints in UK collections. You'll play a vital role in shaping Art UK's editorial approach to prints and printmaking, working closely with freelance writers, artists, researchers and content producers to bring new perspectives to our platform.
You are a skilled digital content editor with excellent judgement, strong writing skills, and an instinct for what makes a great story. You have a deep knowledge of art and are passionate about making it accessible to wider audiences. You care about reaching underrepresented voices and uncovering stories that deserve to be heard. The primary focus of this role will be on creating new written and video content relating to the large number of prints on Art UK, while also supporting the Director of Content to better surface, link and enhance existing content on the site. You will not be expected to have experience of directly producing video content.
You'll be confident developing ideas and commissioning contributors, and working with partners to create engaging and authentic content. You're well organised, collaborative, and bring experience of working with diverse contributors.Job Requirements
- Essential: Proven experience commissioning and editing long-form content, ideally relating to art, culture, or heritage
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write and edit in different styles and tones, adapting for diverse audiences and platforms
- Essential: An understanding of what makes a good story
- Essential: Understanding of audience needs and what will appeal to different audiences
- Essential: Ability to interrogate digital user journeys, edit existing content and re-purpose content as guided by our audience engagement strategy
- Essential: Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines
- Essential: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Essential: Interest in art, particularly prints, printmaking, art collections with substantial print holdings and artists who use printmaking in their practiceJob Responsibilities
- Commission and edit long-form written stories focused on prints of all kinds, from etching and engraving to woodblock prints and lithography
- Identify, brief, and support freelance writers on prints
- Commission seven short films on printmaking techniques for use on Art UK's YouTube channel and within the art terms section
- Ensure a representative range of voices and perspectives across commissioned content
- Write and contribute original content as needed for the project
- Upload and manage content within Art UK's CMS, ensuring high editorial standards and accessibility
- Contribute to content planning and editorial meetings as part of the wider content team and support with newsletter creation
- Monitor content outputs and contribute to funder reporting ensuring agreed targets and outcomes are met
