The team
The Ofgem Energy Redress Scheme is a fund created by Ofgem, the energy regulator, to distribute money paid by energy companies that have breached their license conditions. The Energy Savings Trust is the scheme administrator responsible for the day-to-day operation and strategic management of the scheme. We administer grants to third sector organisations to support energy consumers in vulnerable situations and carbon emissions reduction.
The role
Development Officers are involved in the entire grant funding process, from initial application to project monitoring and evaluation. They act as a key liaison and support for the schemes internal processes and external grant applicants/recipients.
Success means successfully operationalising internal grants administration processes, building positive relationships with grantees, and demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset.
Development Officers contribute significantly to our mission by supporting the reduction in carbon emissions and supporting energy consumers in vulnerable situations.
We will be recruiting two Development Officers in this round of recruitment, with one Development Officer focused heavily on the management of our Fuel Voucher Fund.
What you’ll do
Manage the full grant lifecycle for Ofgem Energy Redress funding, from assessing applications and supporting grant panels to overseeing project delivery and managing grantee relationships for grants ranging from £20k to over £1 million.
Act as a primary contact for Energy Redress grantees, providing guidance, challenging when necessary, and ensuring project success through regular reporting and claims scrutiny.
Maintain accurate project records across various systems and respond to scheme-related queries, engaging with diverse stakeholders including voluntary organisations and local authorities.
Support the promotion of the Energy Redress scheme, including delivering presentations at external events.
What you’ll bring
Good understanding of energy issues, fuel poverty sector and the challenges faced by vulnerable energy consumers.
Good understanding and experience of project management.
Good understanding of the charitable and community sector and the unique challenges they face.
Interpersonal skills and experience building and managing trusted relationships with important stakeholders at all levels including senior management of national organisations.
Attention to detail, well organised and ability to check large amounts of information against a range of metrics and deliver work to a high standard.
