We are recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a 3–6 month contract with a PE-backed technology business that delivers market-leading products providing complete control over the full lifecycle of parking enforcement data — from issue through to recovery and every step in between.
The role is based in Exeter (hybrid working), with fully remote working considered for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Assistant will support day-to-day finance operations across accounts payable, receivable, and billing activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Processing customer billing, subscriptions, and usage-based invoices, including preparation of accrued revenue reports
Processing purchase invoices accurately and on time
Maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable records
Reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies
Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities (accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, etc.) – desirable but not essential
Preparing and posting journal entries as required
Monitoring outstanding balances and following up on overdue payments
Processing employee expense claims and company credit card transactions in line with company policy, chasing receipts where required
Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory submissions
Responding to internal and external finance queries, including management of the accounts inbox
Producing monthly reporting on framework contracts, including contracts won and amounts invoiced
The Person
You will be an experienced Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper with a strong transactional finance background and the ability to work autonomously.
Ideally, you will have:
Experience in a similar Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper role
AAT qualification or experience assisting with management accounts (desirable)
Strong knowledge of VAT
Experience raising customer invoices
Previous experience using Xero (highly desirable)
Credit control experience (advantageous)
Experience in a SaaS or technology environment (preferred but not essential)
Salary & Benefits
£28,000 – £32,000 per annum (pro rata for contract)
37.5 hours per week with a 30-minute lunch break
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
