Training Coordinator

Working hours: 10 hours a week- There is potential for the hours of this role to increase based on performance and achievement of targets 

Salary: £21-£23 an hour, depending on experience

  • Deaf Unity is a deaf-led charity aimed at empowering deaf people – championing their rights and enabling successful journeys from education into employment and beyond. We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive, passionate and highly-organised individual to join Deaf Unity at an exciting point in our development.

    We are looking for a dedicated training coordinator, with creativity to develop our E-learning offering, as well as strong organisational and operational skills to oversee all Deaf Unity’s training and BSL courses. You will lead on the development and income generation of our Training services, improving and standardising training delivery, and increasing demand for our training.

    In return you will have the opportunity to work within a small, growing charity. Income generated from training and courses goes back into the charity to fund our work with deaf school leavers, deaf job seekers and deaf professionals. This means the work you do will make a positive contribution to and directly impact the lives of deaf people.

    Job Type
    The Training Coordinator is an exciting role with a lot of opportunity for development. Training is a great way to increase awareness of Deaf Unity and promote our Charity. Our training is popular, and we receive many enquiries from a wide range of organisations and individuals.
    The coordinator will organise and oversee our existing training, as well as:
    Increase sales of our E-Learning, increasing our available resources and promoting sales
    Promote and grow the sales of our BSL courses
    Build relationships to sell bespoke training and BSL courses to organisations, and the opportunity to offer them additional Deaf Unity services.
    The role will also be expected to work closely with the Services Coordinator to cross-sell and maximise promotion of both areas (Training and Services).

    Role Purpose
    To lead the development and growth of Deaf Unity’s training. Our training includes e-learning, online, face-to-face and bespoke courses.
    You will oversee the delivery of our courses, standardise and professionalise our existing services, increase our training output as well as develop our e-learning modules and manage a network of freelance tutors to deliver high-quality training.
    At the same time, you will work to increase demand for our courses and build strategic partnerships to generate sustainable income for Deaf Unity’s charitable services.
    This role would suit an existing freelancer with experience of working within the BSL and/or training sector.

     

    What you’ll be doing  

    Training Coordination 

    • Liaising with prospective students to sell the courses 

    • Liaising with companies to sell courses, and then oversee the logistics of delivery 

    • Manage the delivery of courses and training, including: 

    • Booking teachers/trainers for BSL courses and training 

    • Booking students into courses and booking exams via Signature for relevant courses 

    • Liaising with students, clients, BSL teachers and trainers 

    • Handling administration to ensure smooth delivery 

    • Ensuring consistent quality and a positive learner experience via active monitoring, such as capturing feedback via evaluation forms   

    • Handling invoices for companies and individuals, and approving teacher/trainer invoices for payment 

    • Recruiting freelance trainers, and maintain a supportive and collaborative network of tutors 

    • Maintaining tutor records in our CRM software and ensuring tutors are compliant with Deaf Unity’s freelancer requirements. 

    • Maintenance of Training coordinator role handbook 

    • Achieving agreed targets of the role   

     

    Developing and Improving Training 

    • Developing and maintaining a system for sales and promotion e.g. tracking leads, follow ups with existing clients etc 

    • Increasing bookings for all our courses  

    • Increasing uptake of our e-learning courses 

    • Designing and expanding our e-learning offer so it can reach more people, for example through developing more courses and CPD training to widen the audience 

    • Designing standardised Deaf Unity training materials 

    • Reaching more clients for bespoke training 

    • Responding to enquiries and developing tailored proposals 

    • Building relationships/partnerships with organisations who may benefit from our training 

    • Identifying new audiences and opportunities 

    • Monitoring income and helping us price our courses sustainably 

    • Encouraging repeat business and long-term partnerships, particularly raising awareness of Deaf Unity’s other services  

    • Achieving agreed targets of the role – hours may increase in line with growth 

     

    About You: 

    We’re looking for someone who: 

    • Has experience developing and delivering training 

    • Is confident building relationships, making sales and generating income 

    • Is organised and competent with administrative tasks  

    • Has experience with design and content delivery  

    • Can spot opportunities to improve and develop training, and action them 

    • Is highly organised and able to manage multiple projects 

    • Shares our commitment to deaf empowerment and equality 

     

    Essential: 

    • Strong organisational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail. 

    • Experience in business outreach and building business relationships and partnerships. 

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

    • Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong self-motivation and initiative 

    • Proven track record of meeting sales targets and promoting services. 

    • If no existing BSL skills, an interest and commitment to learning BSL is required (training provided). 

    Desirable: 

    • Knowledge of BSL (ideally Level 2/3 or above). 

    • Proficiency in using CRM systems and other administrative software. 

    • Proficiency in Canva and e-learning software 

    • Sales experience  

    • Experience of delivering training and lesson planning  

    • Knowledge/understanding of the deaf community
