Stories Content Executive

Employer: Macmillan

Location: London/Hybrid (1 day per month in office)

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000

Closing date: 28th April 2026

  • Help bring real stories to life — and make a meaningful difference

At Macmillan, stories have the power to change lives. They raise awareness, inspire action, and ensure the voices of people living with cancer are heard, understood, and respected.

We’re looking for a Stories Content Executive to help us find, support, and amplify those voices — ensuring our storytelling is diverse, inclusive, and rooted in real lived experience.

    The role

This is a brand-new role with real scope to shape how storytelling works across the organisation.

You’ll take the lead in sourcing and building relationships with people willing to share their lived experiences, ensuring every interaction is handled with care, respect, and integrity. You’ll also play a key role in improving how stories are managed, reused, and shared across Macmillan.

From identifying gaps in representation to establishing best practice in storytelling, your work will directly support our mission to reach more people and build greater public understanding of cancer.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Proactively identify and recruit a diverse range of storytellers

    • Build and maintain trusted, sensitive relationships with contributors

    • Use data and insight to spot gaps and improve representation

    • Support colleagues across the organisation to capture stories responsibly and consistently

    • Lead on improving systems and processes, including migrating to a new relationship management system

    • Ensure all storytelling activity aligns with safeguarding, wellbeing, and ethical standards

    • Identify opportunities to reuse and maximise existing content

     Your first few months

    • Shape and establish this new role from the ground up

    • Lead the transition to a new content and relationship management system

    • Build a strong, diverse pipeline of storytellers

    • Develop a clear plan for engaging and supporting existing contributors

    What we’re looking for

    Essential:

    • Experience managing sensitive relationships with empathy and professionalism

    • Confidence using data and insight to inform decisions

    • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders

Nice to have (but not essential):

    • Experience in content, storytelling, or community engagement

    • Knowledge of inclusive storytelling or safeguarding practices

     Why this role is special

    • You’ll work directly with people sharing deeply personal experiences

    • You’ll help shape how Macmillan tells stories at a strategic level

    • You’ll play a vital role in ensuring underrepresented voices are heard

    • Your work will contribute to helping people living with cancer feel seen, supported, and understood

    Our commitment to inclusion

We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those whose voices are underrepresented.

    Recruitment Process
    Application deadline: 28th April 2026
First interview dates: 11th-12th May 2026
