Location: The successful applicant will be based from home and must have residence in the region applied for. The ability to drive, travel extensively and stay overnight as required are essential for this role. A valid driving licence is essential for this role.
Working hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week with the ability to travel and work unsocial hours when required
Salary: £69,262 rising to £72,907 plus cash for car allowance and agile working allowance

Job summary
Are you looking for a new role that will help to support school leaders, and our union, as we continue to grow and organise across the South West region.
We’re looking for a committed and experienced individual to lead and manage all organising, representation, bargaining and campaigning functions within the South West region.
You will be responsible in ensuring that the unions strategic objectives are led and managed through the regional teams, and you will support, develop and nurture the unions branch and regional lay officials.
The role is required to build, maintain, and enhance relationships with the Regional Executive and branch executives across the reginal boundaries.

Person specification
We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience of leading and managing small teams together with an excellent record of handling a wide range of complex individual and collective casework with a demonstrable record of successful conclusions of advocacy including conducting negotiations.
You must have a proven track record in leading organising and campaigning strategies. An understanding of the education systems operating in the UK and relevant employment legislation is essential.
You will also need to have strong leadership skills and a proven track record of using your own initiative to manage complex and difficult situations. Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence are also critical. In order to deliver the best service to members, we ask that candidates for this role are prepared to travel extensively and work long hours when needed to get the job done.
