Help us stand up for childhood – one school at a time.
Smartphone Free Childhood is a fast-growing grassroots movement bringing families and educators together to stand up for healthier, happier childhoods. Our mission is to give every child the chance to grow up free from addictive algorithms – and to support the adults around them to create meaningful change.
We’re building a national campaign with a strong public voice, powerful tools for parents, and now – a new Schools Network to support teachers and headteachers who want to create a healthier smartphone culture in their school communities.
In under 18 months, we’ve built a global community of over 350,000 people. More than 150,000 children are now signed up to our Parent Pact to delay smartphones and social media, with parents in over 40% of UK schools joining the movement. We’re already seeing strong momentum with school leaders too – and now we’re looking for a dedicated leader to take that work to the next level.
About the role
We’re looking for a strategic, creative and mission-driven leader to join our small core team and take ownership of the Smartphone Free Childhood Schools Network – our B2B platform and support system for educators across the UK.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a national programme from the ground up. You’ll bring a deep understanding of the education sector, and pair it with the ability to think ahead, design systems that scale, and build something truly useful and values-driven.
You’ll be equipping school leaders with the confidence, tools and backing to make thoughtful, impactful decisions about smartphone use in their schools and communities – helping them navigate a difficult issue with clarity and courage and ultimately benefitting the lives of young people across the UK.It’s senior role with significant autonomy – you’ll shape the programme, define the roadmap, and represent the schools arm of the national SFC movement. You’ll also play a key role in helping build the case for national policy change, using data, stories and insights from the Schools Network to influence education decision-makers.
Your mission
To grow the SFC Schools Network into a nationally recognised, high-value community that equips educators to:
Understand the issues around smartphones and childhood
Take practical steps toward making their schools smartphone-free
Positively engage their parent and student communities to enable cultural change
Build momentum for change across the education system
You’ll sit at the intersection of education, campaigning and product, working closely with our core team to design, test and deliver tools and experiences that support school leaders to effect change.
Ultimately, your work will give school communities a pathway through one of the biggest, thorniest issues they’re facing today – and ensure more children have more time to grow up with space to focus and thrive.Key responsibilities

Support SFC regional leaders with advice on engaging school leaders in their communities
Represent SFC at events, roundtables, conferences and in the media

Who we’re looking for
This role would suit someone who’s worked at senior level in or alongside the education sector – but who’s ready to step into a more fast-paced, startup-like environment where you can shape something new.
We’re not looking for someone to manage a fixed programme. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone excited to build and evolve a vital strand of the SFC movement – grounded in a deep understanding of schools and school leaders’ needs.Essential
Senior-level experience in or adjacent to the education sector (e.g. teacher, school leader, policymaker, advisor)
Deep understanding of the pressures and realities school leaders face
Strategic thinker who can design user journeys, systems and tools that scale
Confident communicator – able to write clearly, speak persuasively and represent the movement publicly
Personal alignment and passion for the mission of Smartphone Free Childhood
Desirable
Experience building or scaling a digital community, membership network or CPD offer
Product or programme development experience
Familiarity with or a willingness to learn tools like Notion, Google Workspace, Klaviyo and basic analytics tools

What we offer
The chance to play a leading role in a fast-growing national movement at a critical inflection point
The opportunity to grow and scale a programme that could positively impact millions of children's lives
A platform to shape national conversation and influence government policy
Flexibility and autonomy – with support where you need it
A kind, smart and mission-driven team
