The role:
Jisc's Procurement function manages purchases over £25K, ensuring value for money, quality, and compliance with UK regulations. We deliver business-focused services through innovation, streamlined processes, and strong supplier partnerships to achieve great outcomes for Jisc and its customers.
We’re seeking someone with experience in procurement, purchasing, or transferable skills from support services or compliance, ideally within the public sector. You’ll support procurement activities across the organisation, manage administration, and lead on lower-value procurements.
Working closely with category leads, you’ll follow structured processes, prioritise effectively, and help deliver strategic outcomes. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships will be key as you guide stakeholders through procurement procedures and provide sound advice aligned to evolving legislation.
What you’ll be doing:
Actively support any procurement processes carried out across Jisc by more senior members of the procurement function
Support Procurement colleagues in developing their category pipelines and strategies Take the lead on some lower value / risk procurement processes across Jisc.
Check and approve purchase requisitions at the appropriate value in our finance system.
Support in the development of training materials and delivery of any training to Jisc staff.
Be aware of any developments in procurement legislation and good practice to advise Jisc staff on changes.
What we are looking for:
Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts effectively.
Familiarity with eProcurement systems; hands-on experience is a plus.
Proven stakeholder engagement skills across diverse groups, including internal teams, senior leaders, education institutions, consortia, and suppliers.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage tasks efficiently.
A proactive, service-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering positive customer experiences.
