  • Historic Newspapers (historic-newspapers.com) specialises in bespoke, personalised books created from their private archive of over 2 million original newspapers. Since June 2025, both Historic Newspapers and its parent company, Wonderbly, have been owned by Penguin Random House. With HQ Office in London as well as Offices in SW Scotland, ‘HN’ looks to connect people with their passions through the books they produce.

    Over the last 12 months, Historic-Newspapers has undergone transformational change with the launch of an entirely new look and feel to the brand, coupled with a re-platforming of our website to Shopify.  This exciting project has yielded incredible results, with 300% YoY growth to the business. 

    Reporting to the Head of Product, the primary function of the role is to help support the research and curation of photographic history sections for our books.

    The primary subject area to be researched is sports, most specifically US football, both Professional and Collegiate.  Knowledge and understanding of these sports would be beneficial but is not essential.  

    Requirements

    The role involves utilising partner online databases to identify applicable, interesting and unique content that will delight our customers.  Experience and understanding of photo-journalism is desirable but training will be given where required.  Other research and design tasks may be requested at discretion of management

    The role is temporary for 6 months initially.  37.5 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Friday.  The role can be home based with some ability to travel into our London office is desirable. We would consider candidates based in the United States.

    We are looking for someone who is and has:

    • Enthusiastic, tenacious self-starter, with a passion for history

    • Highly driven and self-motivated who can work without supervision.

    • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and admin skills essential.

    • Highly computer literate with strong knowledge of Indesign / Adobe Suite

    • An awareness of the publishing and document preparation process

    • Good literacy skills with proven written abilities – Proven experience of achieving & exceeding targets set and understanding of KPI’s/KPOs.

    • Basic understanding of web & graphic design (eg Photoshop) an advantage and willingness to learn.

    • Preference for interest in US Football and broader US sports
