By supporting our schools in managing people matters, you’ll play a direct role in keeping both students and colleagues safe and ensuring our schools thrive.
Role description
As a People Advisor, you will support an experienced People Partner (HRBP) in delivering consistent, fair, and effective management of employee casework across 12–17 schools. Your work will span all aspects of people-related case management — from disciplinary and grievance through to attendance and performance. A critical part of the role is ensuring that cases relating to safeguarding are handled thoroughly, appropriately, and in line with our duty to protect both students and employees.
This role is mainly remote, with visits to your allocated schools as needed, and one monthly office day with the People Advisory team.
Key Responsibilities
Support the People Partner in managing employee relations casework, including: Disciplinary, grievance attendance and absence management, performance management and capability, flexible working and other people-related casework as required
Build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders including headteachers, senior trust leaders and central teams.
Manage cases involving safeguarding concerns with diligence and care, ensuring that the welfare of children and staff is prioritised
Provide timely and accurate advice to leaders and managers on policies, procedures, and best practice.
Ensure cases are progressed consistently, fairly, and in line with Trust policy and employment law.
Prepare case documentation, notes, and outcome letters, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Work collaboratively within the People Advisory team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
Contribute to a culture of learning, inclusivity, and growth within the team and across the Trust.
Person Specification
Essential
CIPD Level 3 qualification (or willingness to study towards it).
Experience providing HR/people advice or managing casework.
Strong knowledge of core HR policies and procedures (disciplinary, grievance, attendance management, etc.).
Ability to balance empathy with objectivity in sensitive people matters.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to advise and influence stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases across a large geographical area.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and colleagues.
Desirable
Experience in education or multi-site organisations.
Familiarity with working in unionised environments.
Strong note-taking and report-writing skills.
