    The Role

    We are looking for a Hearings Clerk to facilitate all aspects of Fitness to Practise and Registration Appeal Panel hearings and meetings.
    The Clerk sits within the Hearings team in the Regulation department. The team coordinates and hosts fitness to practise panel hearings of cases referred to it by the Fitness to Practice team, and registration appeal panel hearings of applications referred to it by the Registration team. The Clerk sits on all panel hearings and meetings.
    This role is offered with flexible working options, and we are happy to consider job share arrangements.

    The main focus of this role is to:
    • Provide support and accurate high level procedural advice regarding the relevant legislation, hearing procedures and internal policies and procedures to the registered persons/applicants and their legal representatives and witnesses, before, during and after hearings
    • Provide panel members, Legal Advisers, Presenters, employers, interpreters, members of the public, press and media, Social Care Wales and Welsh Government with accurate high level procedural information and advice regarding hearing procedures and relevant legislation
    • Contribute to discussions with Social Care Wales legal support and registered persons legal representatives to ensure hearings are held in accordance with the relevant legislation and our internal procedures
    • Coordinate hearings by agreeing dates, producing and sending notice letters and hearing bundles in a timely manner
    • Set up remote hearings, hearing rooms in our office or other venues, and ensure any agreed special measures are in place.
    • Work closely with the Fitness to Practise Officer to ensure risk assessments are undertaken where necessary to ensure special measures are put in place in hearings where required
    • Produce briefings regarding hearings and the team’s work for panel members, staff and Welsh Government.
    • Contribute to the production and analysis of statistical reports as required.
    • Contribute to the on-going review of the team’s operational procedures. This will include reviewing template letters, guidance documents, policies and procedures, the CRM system, website and intranet pages, and make recommendations for change where appropriate.
    • Promote the effective integration of Social Care Wales’ values, throughout all aspects of the team’s work, and place individuals who use services at the heart of the work.
