Online English Teacher

Employer: The Learning Circle 

Location: Online role

Working hours: 7 hours a week of teaching plus 1.25hrs weekly meeting plus 1.4hrs paid admin.  

Salary: £39/hr for teaching, £19.19/hr for meetings/admin

  • We are hiring an online English teacher up to GCSE level to start in September 2026.

    Classes:

    • Mondays 10:20-11:20am KS3 English

    • Tuesdays 10-12:30pm and 1:30-4pm IGCSE English Language and IGCSE English Literature

    • Tuesdays 4:15-5:30pm Teachers’ meeting

    • Wednesdays 3-4pm KS3 History and Politics
      = 7 hours a week of teaching plus 1.25hrs weekly meeting plus 1.4hrs paid admin.

    Terms

    £39/hr for teaching, £19.19/hr for meetings/admin. An hour of teaching pay is intended to include renumeration for lesson planning. Teachers receive an additional admin payment equivalent to 20% of their teaching hours

    MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    Direct work with young people

    · Inspire the children to be enthusiastic and passionate about learning.

    · Embody the values and attitude that you expect from the children

    · Equip them with the knowledge & skills they need to advance in their lives.

    · Bringing mindfulness into the classroom.

    · Regular mentoring meetings with the children that chose you as a mentor.

    Observation

    · Observe what generates enthusiasm, joy and fulfillment in the children.

    · Observe what obstacles they meet and determine how best to navigate through these.

    Environment

    · Set up and maintain a rich and inclusive online learning experience.

    · Work closely with the other teachers to facilitate collaborative working across disciplines.

    Other

    · Show through your own example what you aspire for in the children.

    · Provide reports on student progress both orally and in writing each term.
