In this role, you will use your expertise to provide high-quality advice and casework to individuals experiencing mental health and money challenges. You’ll help clients overcome barriers, manage debt, maximise income, and navigate welfare benefits—all while supporting their mental wellbeing.
About the Service
The Mental Health & Money Advice Service is the first UK-wide initiative to tackle mental health and financial issues together. Commissioned by Mental Health UK and delivered by leading mental health charities across the UK, we aim to break the cycle of debt and mental health problems through online resources and telephone-based advice.
What You’ll Do
Provide advice and casework by telephone on debt solutions, welfare benefits, and mental health-related issues.
Support clients, carers, and professionals with practical guidance and emotional understanding.
Deliver benefit checks, assist with claims, and handle mandatory reconsiderations and appeals.
Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service improvements.
Work collaboratively within a supportive team to ensure excellent client care.

Essential:
Accredited training in money advice (e.g., IMA, Wiser Adviser).
Experience providing money advice and casework (debt, financial capability, welfare benefits).
Skilled in remote advice delivery (telephone, email, virtual chat).
Strong IT skills and familiarity with case recording systems.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
Experience working with vulnerable clients, particularly those affected by mental illness.
Desirable:
Accreditation by the Institute of Money Advisers or willingness to work towards it.
Experience with Universal Credit and recent welfare benefits training.
Previous telephone-based casework experience.
