Trust Governance Professionals (TGP) is an organisation with a very simple mission – to make the working lives of academy governance professionals easier. Our community includes over 400 academy governance professionals working in school trusts, and we are proud to provide high‑quality support, guidance, and a sense of belonging.
The Role
Knowing our community is at the heart of our organisation. The Membership and Engagement Coordinator will lead on co-ordinating our approach to our existing and future community of governance professionals working in school trusts. From the beginning of each person’s onboarding journey, we strive to deliver a personalised, compassionate, and engaging experience. This role is central to enhancing that journey, ensuring new joiners feel welcomed, informed, and valued, while also driving strong community retention and growth. In this role you will be expected to be a strong advocate for our community, ensuring their needs are closely integrated into the organisation’s development and programme of activities.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Community Engagement
Deliver a caring, consistent onboarding experience for all new joiners
Ensure timely completion of welcome calls, new joiner meetings, and follow‑up actions
Maintain accurate onboarding records and processes
Build strong knowledge of our community to shape relevant, values‑aligned support
Develop expert knowledge of our CRM, training colleagues where needed
Retention & Membership Management
Lead on membership retention and renewal processes
Manage renewals, invoicing, and related administration
Use insights to develop and monitor retention targets
Identify emerging issues or trends and share with the team
Support smooth delivery of community activities
Community Insights & Growth
Contribute to TGP’s membership recruitment strategy
Track and report on issues affecting engagement and retention
Support TGP’s social media presence and sector visibility
Help create and deliver engaging communications
Promote TGP’s values across all interactions
Collaboration
Work closely with the team to ensure high‑quality member experience
Advocate for community needs in programme development
Engage with sector partners where appropriate
Person SpecificationEssential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage processes, timelines, and data accurately
Knowledge of data protection legislation
Confident using digital communication tools and social media
Problem‑solving skills and ability to spot emerging trends
Flexible and able to prioritise in a small team
Desirable
Experience as a governance professional
Experience in community engagement, onboarding, or membership management
CRM experience
Proven relationship‑management background
Experience delivering engagement initiatives

Terms & Benefits
Part‑time, term‑time only plus 3 weeks (flexible arrangements considered)
25 days annual leave FTE plus bank holidays (pro‑rata; expected to be taken in school holidays)

Six‑month probation period
