Salary: £46,272

Closing date: 30 March 2026

  • Help rebuild the lives of blind veterans.
At Blind Veterans UK, we believe every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. Since 1915, we’ve provided life-changing support to thousands of ex-service men and women living with sight loss. Today, we’re looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate Legacy Administration Manager to help us secure the income that makes this work possible.

    About the role
Legacies are a vital part of our fundraising, and this is an exciting opportunity to bring our legacy administration function in-house. As our Legacy Administration Manager, you’ll oversee a diverse caseload of pecuniary, residuary, specific and life-interest gifts—ensuring every legacy is administered efficiently, legally and with the utmost care and sensitivity.
You’ll be the key point of contact for executors, solicitors, co-beneficiaries and families, representing Blind Veterans UK with professionalism, empathy and confidence. Working independently from home, you’ll play a crucial role in maximising legacy income, managing risk, and upholding our strong reputation.

    What you’ll be doing
    • Managing a varied caseload of legacy files to maximise income and protect the charity’s interests.
    • Reviewing Wills, Estate Accounts and probate documentation to ensure correct administration.
    • Liaising with executors, solicitors and co-beneficiaries, including those recently bereaved.
    • Identifying risks or contentious issues and escalating appropriately.
    • Producing accurate income forecasts, reports and year-end audit information.
    • Ensuring all legacy activity is accurately recorded in the database.
    • Explaining the impact of legacy gifts with clarity and sensitivity.
    • Upholding legal, regulatory and best practice requirements in all aspects of the role.

    About you
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is proactive, highly organised and comfortable working independently. You’ll bring:
    Essential
    • Hands-on experience in legacy administration or a legal role involving Wills.
    • Strong understanding of English inheritance, tax, probate and property matters.
    • Excellent communication skills—written and verbal.
    • Superb attention to detail and the ability to build warm, professional relationships.
    • Confidence to assess risk, know when to escalate, and work sensitively with bereaved individuals.
    • Strong IT skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    Desirable
    • Knowledge of Scottish legacy law.
    • Experience in the charity sector.
    • Familiarity with databases such as First Class 4 or Raiser’s Edge.
    • ILM Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or relevant qualification.
    Why join us?
    • Be part of a purpose-led organisation transforming the lives of blind veterans.
    • Work as part of a supportive, passionate and caring team living our values every day.
    • Home-based role with flexibility and autonomy.
    • Opportunities for professional development, including learning in legal, tax and legacy best practice.

If you’re passionate, detail-focused and committed to ensuring every legacy gift makes a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you.
