Salary: £36,000-£42,500 (FTE)

  • ROLE SUMMARY:

    We are looking for a Teacher of Psychology and Sociology to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Subject. As our successful candidate, you will have a genuine passion for our subjects and a desire to inspire this in your students. You must also be eager to develop your own teaching skills and share ideas with colleagues. 

     

    Position and working hours

    · Part Time 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) - working remotely from home

    · Permanent contract

    · Live Teaching can be between 8:20am – 4.00pm

    · Meeting and Clubs 4.00pm – 4.40pm

    · Live Teaching for this role for AY 25-26 is Monday, Wednesday & Thursday

     

    Annually you will be contracted to work 35 weeks’ term time and a further 4 weeks of directed company days. The timing of directed days will be confirmed on the school calendar. It is, however, expected that staff will work the necessary hours to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Inspire, motivate and provide purposeful subject knowledge for students within the school

    · Be up to date on current research and emerging pedagogy and disseminate this to staff through active engagement in professional development with the learning community

    · Support the self-evaluation of the school’s effectiveness and the development of priorities for improvement

    · Assist in maintaining and developing a high-quality school environment and profile and act as a role model through professional conduct and disposition

    · Provide guidance and advice to students on educational matters

    · Provide and contribute to assessments, reports and references relating to student progress and attainment in a timely manner

    · Participate in meetings and staff CPD opportunities

    · Undertake any other work as specified by their line manager

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    The candidate will be qualified up to degree level and have a recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status.

     

    Skills and attributes - Essential

    · Excellent subject knowledge

    · Knowledge of the correct Safeguarding procedures

    · Ability to work well in teams with excellent written and communication skills

    · Able to work effectively in dynamic and changing environments

    · Experience of working in the secondary or college sector

    · Experience of working in state or independent school sector

    · Experience with creating resources and the ability to review and enhance current course delivery

    · Computer literate with the ability to use a variety of applications

     

    Skills and attributes – Desirable

    · Current or previous experience in a pastoral role e.g., form tutor

    · Knowledge of best ways to engage students in your subject of expertise.

    · The capability to drive best practices and have a reputation for delivering high quality material.

    · The ability to work well within a team, while having the courage to raise new ideas and support the implementation within the department.

    · A keen interest within the online teaching and learning environment, with a passion for the learning and development of students.

    · A flexible, highly energetic approach and the ability to thrive in a business with a fast changing, collaborative, delivery culture.

    · The ability to work independently where necessary but in a collaborative team environment where appropriate.
