Role Outline:
The Head of Governance is responsible for creating, managing, and improving management systems to uphold best practice standards, mitigating and managing business risks, maintaining accreditations, and driving sustainability and CSR strategies. Acting as the Data Protection Officer, they ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
What you'll be doing:This role involves providing strategic leadership and oversight in governance, compliance, and risk management. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and improving governance frameworks, participate in Senior Management meeting and Clinical Governance Boards. Working wit Clinical Governance teams to enhance protocols and ensure ethical requirements are always considered for all procedures and policies. The role also entails managing quality systems, documentation and controller processes. You will lead on multiple accreditations (e.g., ISO9001, ISO14001, CQC), and oversee and lead on both internal and external audits. Additionally, the individual will drive risk mitigation strategies, maintain corporate risk registers, and provide legal oversight for contracts, claims, and regulatory compliance, including maintaining the legal register and handling data protection responsibilities as a Data Protection Officer (DPO). They will also lead on data privacy management, including DPIAs, ROPAs, ICO liaison, and breach responses.
Beyond governance and compliance, the role focuses on sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), including ESG strategy, emissions reporting, and fulfilling duties such as ESOS and SECR. The individual will also manage stakeholder engagement, supporting various departments (e.g., IT, HR, and Operations), responding to client tenders and assurance queries, and developing client and employee satisfaction initiatives. Effective leadership and management of the Governance team are crucial, with an emphasis on performance management, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement across the organisation.
What we are looking for:Degree level education
Experience in quality management and accreditations
Trained auditor.
ESG/CSR and DPO experience.
Strong communication and relationship skills
.Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines
