    We are looking for a Disability Support Manager to join our team.

    Role Summary

    The Disability Support Manager sits within the Student Services department alongside the Student Support and Study Skills teams and provides strategic leadership, operational oversight and quality assurance of disability support provision across Kaplan Higher Education UK Ltd 

     

    The post holder is responsible for ensuring that disability support services across the University of Essex Online and the University of Liverpool Online meet all legal, regulatory and institutional requirements, deliver a high-quality and inclusive service to disabled students, and support student progression, retention and success. 

     

    The role includes line management of Disability Support Officers, oversight of Reasonable Adjustment processes, policy development, service improvement, and close collaboration with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure that disability support is embedded effectively across the student journey.

    What you’ll bring to the role

    Essential Requirements 

    • An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification. 

    • Line management and supervisory experience, with the ability to support and develop staff, or extensive experience working in Disability Support

    • Significant experience supporting disabled students or individuals in a higher education or comparable environment. 

    • Strong working knowledge of the Equality Act (2010), reasonable adjustments and disability-related policy and practice. 

    • Experience of overseeing or coordinating disability support provision or related services. 

    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to a diverse audience. 

    • Ability to work strategically while maintaining oversight of operational delivery. 

    • High standards of confidentiality, professionalism and judgement. 

    • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital systems used to support students. 

    Desirable Requirements 

     

    • Line management or supervisory experience, with the ability to support and develop staff. 

    • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as NADP, additional qualifications or training in disability support are highly desirable. 

    • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one. 

    • Experience of service development or quality assurance within student support services. 

    • Awareness of wider higher education policy, regulatory and sector developments impacting disability support.
