The Team:
Join Jisc’s Group CTO directorate, delivering innovative, cost‑effective digital services to members and customers.
Our Cyber Security division protects the JANET network with a state‑of‑the‑art SOC and CSIRT, deploying the latest countermeasures through trusted vendor partnerships and providing expert support to universities, colleges, and learning providers.
From network operations, security, cloud, identity, data centres, and video services, we apply our expertise to power resilient and respected digital solutions.
The role:
Jisc provides Penetration Testing, Cyber Essentials Plus, and Cyber Security Assessment Services. As a Lead Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor you will lead CE and CE+ assessments, deliver training, and manage our advice and guidance service for members and customers.
You will shape the strategy and ongoing development of Cyber Essentials services, ensuring compliance with IASME and NCSC standards. The role involves regular engagement with members, assessors, stakeholders, and IASME to maintain a high value, trusted service.
Ongoing training and certification in key security areas will be provided.
This position requires the successful candidate to undergo enhanced background screening checks, which include but is not limited to, Basic / Enhanced UK criminal record check, Credit check, international fraud and sanctions.
What you’ll be doing:
Undertake Cyber Essentials/Plus assessments and related services
Manage the team of Cyber Essentials assessors
Lead the training of new assessors, developing their growth in Cyber Essentials and related services
Ensure that certifications required to practise are current
Identify improvements to the service delivery with the service management team
What we are looking for:
Extensive experience in a security, networks, cloud or Cyber Essentials role
Experienced in articulating the CE controls based on a wide variety of environments
Understanding and practical application of information security principles
Demonstrable experience of producing high quality deliverables working alone and as part of a team
Experience of delivering training or consultancy
