Reports to: Head of Digital & Growth
PURPOSE
This new role is responsible for driving Basketball England’s commercial growth by generating new and sustainable revenue streams, beyond core funding and delivering against agreed KPIs.
Working closely with the Executive Management Team (EMT) and colleagues across the organisation, the postholder will lead on diversifying income through retail, membership, courses, sponsorships, and partnerships. They will play a central role in building and managing partnerships, strengthening Basketball England’s commercial offer, and creating growth opportunities that benefit the wider basketball community, including regions, leagues, clubs, and delivery partners.
The postholder will contribute to the organisation’s long-term sustainability and is expected to demonstrate and promote Basketball England’s values in all aspects of their work.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Commercial Strategy & Growth
Identify and secure sponsorships and partnerships with organisations aligned to with Basketball England’s values and ambitions.
Develop and deliver strategies to grow income across retail, membership, courses, and educational programmes.
Support selected digital projects linked to commercial objectives.
Manage commercial rights and partner relations and deliver contractual obligations, reporting against KPIs and agreed success measures.
Lead on e-commerce and retail operations including product sourcing, forecasting, inventory management, 3PL fulfilment and marketing (in conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Team) to build a profitable and valued retail offering.
Support with the growth of Basketball England’s membership base in collaboration with the Participation Team.
Work with the Marketing & Communications Team to design and deliver marketing campaigns supporting commercial objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Act as an ambassador for Basketball England and the wider sport.
Build and manage relationships with sponsors, agencies, and key stakeholders in the sports sector.
Represent Basketball England at media, sponsor, and community events.
Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and act as the central point of contact for partners.
Produce reports and evaluations on sponsorships, presenting insights and outcomes to partners.
Data, Monitoring & Evaluation.
Forecast, track, and report on new revenue opportunities.
Monitor industry trends and apply commercial and sporting landscape insights to Basketball England’s approach.
Use data and insight to inform partnership acquisition and delivery.
Operations, Compliance & Culture
Uphold organisational standards in safeguarding, EDI, GDPR, and health & safety.
Foster a culture of collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement.
Support the Executive Management Team and contribute to EMT meetings when requested.
Take on additional duties at peak seasonal times, as required.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Degree-level education (e.g. Business, Marketing, Sport Management, or related discipline) or equivalent professional experience.
Additional training or professional qualifications in commercial management, sales, or marketing would be an advantage
Experience:
Demonstrable and substantial experience of:
Strong track record in commercial or marketing roles, with minimum of 5 years proven experience of sales and revenue generation.
Experience in sport commercial partnership acquisition and/or management essential.
Experience managing e-commerce B2C.
Experience in product development, licensing, sourcing, forecasting and managing retail inventory and 3PL fulfilment partners.
Ability to work independently and within small teams to deliver projects and meet agreed targets.
Strong planning, time management, and communication skills.
Understanding of commercial performance metrics (e.g. revenue, margin, conversion rate, customer satisfaction and customer lifetime value).
Data and insight driven with the ability to apply marketing strategy and insight to drive revenue growth.
Proven ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
Digitally savvy, with an understanding of current digital trends.
A passion for sport; basketball knowledge desirable but not essential.
Desirable experience of:
Using platforms such as: Mailchimp, Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Google Analytics 4, Shopify, or ticketing platforms.
