British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter*

Working hours: Full-time and part-time roles available 

Salary: £45,000 per annum (full-time) - pro rata for part-time  

  • We're recruiting experienced, qualified British Sign Language Interpreters for permanent, fully remote roles on a Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) on-demand service. You'll support Deaf and hearing service users across the UK in NHS, local authority and wider public sector settings.

    The Role

    • Interpret accurately between BSL and spoken English on live video calls

    • Support a wide range of public sector, NHS and local authority appointments

    • Maintain high professional standards, confidentiality and impartiality

    • Work from home on our BSL VRI service operating Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm (no evenings, weekends or bank holidays)

    Hours Available

    Full-time:

    • Monday-Friday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm (excluding bank holidays)

    Part-time:

    • Wednesday: 12:30 pm-4:00 pm

    • Thursday: 8:00 am-4:00 pm

    • Friday: 8:00 am-4:00 pm

    *We may consider alternative hours, for the right applicant.

    Essential Criteria

    Please only apply if you:

    • Are fully registered with NRCPD or RBSLI, with current RSLI registration and ability to maintain annual re-registration

    • Hold an MA, Postgraduate Diploma or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in BSL/English Interpreting and Translating

    • Hold Level 6 or honours degree level (or equivalent) in your second language (typically BSL)

    • Have proven experience interpreting in public sector settings, such as the NHS or local authorities

    • Are IT confident and comfortable working in a remote environment

    • Are willing to wear a company-issued uniform while on duty

    Home & Technical Setup

    You must have:

    • A quiet, professional home workspace, free from background noise

    • High-speed broadband: minimum 5 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload

    • A dedicated home office space with room for a 5 ft x 7 ft backdrop

    • A wired internet connection (modem to device, no Wi-Fi)
