We’re looking for a passionate, knowledgeable and values‑driven Apprenticeship Manager to lead and develop our apprenticeship offering across the charity.
About the role
As our Apprenticeship Manager, you will be the organisation’s subject matter expert on apprenticeships — shaping strategy, driving quality and ensuring we deliver meaningful learning experiences. You’ll lead the end‑to‑end apprenticeship journey, from workforce planning and provider selection through to completion, compliance and evaluation.
This is an exciting opportunity to build strong relationships across the charity, strengthen our learning culture, and ensure that apprenticeships play a central role in developing talent, capability and career opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic and operational delivery of apprenticeships across the charity.
Act as the lead advisor on apprenticeship policy, funding rules and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the full apprenticeship lifecycle, ensuring high‑quality learner experience and programme outcomes.
Manage the Apprenticeship Levy, including forecasting, budgeting and maximising utilisation.
Grow levy income by sourcing and securing levy transfers from external partners.
Build and maintain strong relationships with training providers, ensuring high‑quality delivery and contractual compliance.
Monitor progress, achievement rates, EPA outcomes and programme quality through robust data and reporting.
Lead internal quality assurance, audits and preparation for ESFA/Ofsted-related reviews.
Support managers and apprentices throughout the journey, providing expert guidance and fostering a positive learning culture.
Analyse workforce and learner data to drive improvement and inform future skills planning.
Work with stakeholders across the charity to promote apprenticeships as a core development pathway.
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
Experience managing apprenticeship programmes in a complex organisation.
Strong understanding of ESFA funding rules, apprenticeship standards and Ofsted requirements.
Proven experience interpreting and managing the Apprenticeship Levy.
Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites as needed, including at least one monthly meeting in the London office.
Excellent relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organisational, reporting and data analysis skills.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and influence senior leaders.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and high‑quality learning.
Desirable criteria:
Experience working within the charity or social care sector.
Experience commissioning or managing training providers.
A relevant L&D or vocational education qualification (e.g., CIPD).
