We're keen to hire an experienced Technical Lead who has a passion for Tech for Good and shares our values of social justice and EDI.This is a transformational moment in Citizens Advice history and the newly formed Digital, Data & Technology department. Across this area we’re developing the industry-leading tools and approaches that will power the next generation of advice and advocacy.
This role provides technical leadership and direction to multidisciplinary squads, focusing on delivering specific, measurable outcomes. The role is responsible for the technical quality, security, and integrity of the software we build, and ensures our software solutions meet user needs and align with organisational strategy. The role mentors and coaches software engineers, and fosters a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Significant experience as a senior software engineer, with a track record of leading complex projects.
Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and at least one other modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Strong understanding of secure software architectures, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and CI/CD pipelines.

Whilst we prefer a blended approach between a local office, if one is near you, and home we’re open to being flexible on location, occasionally a role may require you to be based in a certain location if that's the case it will be detailed in the advert or job description. This can be discussed in more detail during your interview.
The National Citizens Advice operates from offices in England and Wales, with 4 regional offices based in Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Leeds, therefore all successful applicants must be based within England or Wales.
