     Due to continued growth and expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a Disability Support Advisor to join the team on a 9-month Fixed Term Contract. You will play a vital role in helping students with disabilities and learning differences to thrive. Working closely with the Learning Support Manager, you’ll provide expert guidance, coordinate reasonable adjustments, and help create an inclusive, accessible learning environment across BPP.

    What you’ll be doing

    In this role you will play a key role in supporting the Learning Support Manager in the operational success of the Student Support and Welfare department across its range of activities. 

    As such, you will be responsible for:

    • Responding to student’s disability disclosures in line with service level agreements and internal policies

    • Interviewing and assessing students to identify appropriate reasonable adjustments

    • Having oversight that all Learning Support interventions (reasonable adjustments) are timely, effective and appropriate to individual entitlement 

    • Promoting inclusive practice and student independence, acting as an advocate for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities 

    • Accurately recording student’s entitlements, based on initial assessments, interviews, and evidence including external assessment reports 

    • Ensuring all Learning Support records are accurate and up-to-date and that evidence complies with audit requirements 

    • Identifying and promoting Learning Support strategies and service improvements 

    • Collaborating with external stakeholders and other teams at BPP to ensure reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice are integrated 

    • Monitoring and providing reports on financial records to the Head of Inclusion and Learning Support 

     

    What we’re looking for

    To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:

    • Relevant professional qualification at degree level 

    • Substantial experience of working with individuals with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities in an educational setting 

    • A detailed understanding of implementing reasonable adjustments

    • Knowledge and understanding of referral pathways for vulnerable learners

    • Ability to build effective working relationships, partnerships and referral routes with key internal and external stakeholders

    • Experience of working in a multi-agency team approach

    • Experience of delivering interventions, workshops and presenting to a variety of audiences at all levels

    • Resilient, confident and passionate about improving wellbeing and mental health

    • Self-reflective with an ability to be emotionally intelligent in responding to issues of sensitivity

    • Strong IT literacy including MS Excel and educational databases

    • Excellent organisation, problem solving and time management skills

    Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check
